Siding Contractor Software in Nebraska

Nebraska's storm law covers siding the same as roofing. The Insured Homeowners Protection Act applies to any residential contractor working on a house of up to four units, not just roofers, so when siding is on a hail claim the contractor cannot rebate any part of the deductible or pay the homeowner anything beyond nominal value, and the homeowner has a right to cancel with a refund within ten days. That is broader than the roof-only rules in some neighboring states, and a siding company that works claims needs to know it.

Hail is what puts siding on a claim. The storms that come through the Omaha and Lincoln corridor most summers crack vinyl on the north and west walls, and an adjuster who writes for the roof often writes for two elevations of siding as well. The homeowner asks what it costs to do the other two so the colors match, and that is where a good share of the year's siding margin lives. Wind does the rest, working panels loose all winter.

The houses are frame and vinyl. Elkhorn, Papillion, Gretna, and Bennington are 1990s and 2000s subdivisions where the original vinyl has faded and gone brittle, and that is the volume replacement market. Older Omaha, in Dundee and Benson, and the older parts of Lincoln have wood and hardboard under whatever went over it, and pulling that off is where the change orders start. Any siding contractor earning $5,000 a year registers with the Nebraska Department of Labor, with a workers' comp certificate on file if there are employees. Vinyl gets brittle below freezing, so most crews stop by late November and start again in March.
