Colorado's storm law covers roofing and nothing else. The 2012 contract rules, with their 72-hour right to cancel and their ban on paying the deductible, apply to residential roofing contracts, so siding on a hail claim runs on ordinary contract law. That matters because siding ends up on a lot of claims here. The hailstorm that crossed the west side of Denver on May 8, 2017 did $2.3 billion in insured damage, and an adjuster who writes for the roof often writes for the north and west walls too. The homeowner asks what it costs to do the other two so the colors match, and that is where a good share of the year's siding margin lives.

The sun does the slow damage. At a mile of altitude the ultraviolet is stronger than it is on the plains, and vinyl fades and goes brittle sooner here than it does at sea level. Fiber cement and engineered wood sell well on the Front Range for that reason, and stucco is the default in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Older Denver is brick, so the siding market is the suburbs.

Fire changed the conversation. The Marshall Fire on December 30, 2021 was a grass fire pushed by winds near a hundred miles an hour, and it took 1,084 homes in Louisville and Superior, most of them ordinary suburban houses with ordinary siding. The wildfire code that took effect statewide in July 2026 sets material rules for new houses and additions in mapped areas, and local governments can go further. A siding company that works the foothills needs to know which products pass before it quotes.

There is no state license for siding. Denver, Aurora, and the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department each license contractors on their own terms. Dry winters let crews work most of the year, though vinyl gets brittle below freezing and the upslope snowstorms stop everything for a few days at a time.
