Chicago is a brick city. Hail damages siding the way it damages roofs. Downstate storms crack vinyl on the north and west walls, and an adjuster who writes for the roof often writes for two elevations of siding as well. The rest of the house is the upsell, and the color match is what decides whether the homeowner says yes.
