Humidity and hail are what a siding company in Kentucky sells against. The summers are wet enough to rot wood from the bottom course up, the termites find the damp wood first, and the hail that comes most springs cracks vinyl on the north and west walls of Louisville and Lexington. Vinyl still owns the market on price, and fiber cement is gaining in the newer subdivisions in Oldham County, Georgetown, and Northern Kentucky, where the houses are brick on the front and siding on the rest, so a lot of the work is partial. The season runs from March into December. Vinyl gets brittle below freezing, and the Ohio River winter stops a crew for a few weeks at a time.
