Siding Contractor Software in Indiana

Indiana is a brick state. A large share of the houses in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Evansville are brick on the first floor with siding on the gables, the second story, or an addition out back. That changes what a siding job looks like. A lot of the work is partial, matching new vinyl to an existing brick color, and the measure is a few hundred square feet of gable rather than a full wrap. The full replacements are in the 1990s and 2000s subdivisions in Hamilton County and the suburbs around Fort Wayne, where the original vinyl has gone chalky and brittle.

Hail is the other driver. The same storms that damage roofs crack vinyl siding on the north and west walls, and an adjuster who writes for the roof will often write for two elevations of siding at the same time. The homeowner then asks what it would cost to do the other two, and that is where a good share of the year's siding revenue comes from.

There is no state license for siding in Indiana. The rules are local, and they are not the same as the roofing rules. Indianapolis and Marion County issue a general contractor license that covers siding, but in Fort Wayne and Allen County the roofing-only license does not, so a roofer who adds siding there needs a different license. Every other city and county has its own answer.

The contract is regulated statewide. Any home improvement job over $150 needs a written contract under Indiana's Home Improvement Contracts Act, with the names and addresses of both parties, a description of the work, the price, and an estimated start and completion date. The contractor signs before the homeowner does. On a siding job that depends on a color that is backordered, that completion date is the promise to be careful with.
