Gutter Contractor Software in South Dakota

Gutters are a volume game. You're doing two or three installs a day, pricing by linear foot, juggling 5" K-style and 6" half-round, and every third call is about leaf guards. ExteriorPro lets you quote from the truck, drop in downspouts and guards as line items, route the crew to the next stop, and bill the customer before you've packed up. If you run recurring cleaning contracts, those live in here too — no more sticky notes telling you who needs a fall cleanout.

Two or three installs a day across South Dakota means pricing has to come out of the truck, not the office. ExteriorPro lets you quote, schedule, and invoice from a phone.

From $199/month per location. No credit card required to start.

Hail, ice, and wind are the South Dakota gutter's enemies, in that order. The hailstone that fell on Vivian on July 23, 2010 measured eight inches across, the largest ever recorded in the United States, and a hailstorm that flattens a gutter from end to end is a claim a few times a decade somewhere in the state. Ice does the winter damage. The frost line is 42 inches in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, a house spends five months under snow, and a gutter holds ice from November to March, so the gutter that survives is hung on heavy hangers spaced tight, with snow guards above it on a metal roof and heat cable in the downspouts. The wind does the rest. The derecho of May 12, 2022 ran 400 miles across the plains with 59 gusts of 75 miles an hour or more, the three tornadoes of September 10, 2019 collapsed or compromised 37 structures in Sioux Falls, and a gutter in that wind is a sail on the fascia.

Water matters in the spring and in the thunderstorm. Sioux Falls gets about 25 inches of precipitation a year and 38 inches of snow, and when the snow goes in April it goes into ground that is still frozen, so the downspout that runs the melt away from the foundation is the job that matters. Rapid City gets under 20 inches, and the Black Hills thunderstorm puts an inch on a roof in an hour.

South Dakota licenses no contractors. Every contractor holds a contractor's excise tax license and pays 2 percent of gross receipts on every job, and Sioux Falls and Rapid City license contractors under their own codes. There is no state contract law for a residential job, so the contract is whatever the gutter company writes, and a sale made in the home carries three business days to cancel, with the money back within 10 business days. South Dakota's storm law is written for the roofer, with a ban on paying or rebating a deductible and 72 hours to cancel after a denial, and a gutter company on a claim runs on the general insurance fraud rules.

There is no statewide residential building code, and Sioux Falls and Rapid City build to the 2021 International Residential Code and inspect. Seamless aluminum in five and six inch K-style is the work, formed on site from coil, with steel where the hail has been. The median South Dakota house dates from 1979, the growth is in Harrisburg, Tea, and the ring around Sioux Falls, and the work runs from April into October.

Every trade, one price

Roofing, siding, windows, and gutters are all included at one price per location — so a crew that adds a second trade doesn't change what they pay.
