Hail is the reason a lot of gutter work exists in Missouri. Kansas City and St. Louis both sit in the hail belt, aluminum gutters dent, and after a summer storm the dents along the front face are among the first things an adjuster photographs. A gutter company that documents them well ends up attached to a lot of roof claims. That brings Missouri's storm law into the job. A contractor being paid from a claim cannot advertise or promise to pay or rebate any part of the deductible, and a homeowner can cancel a contract to be paid from a claim within five business days of a written denial from the insurer.
Ice does the winter damage. Missouri gets ice storms more often than deep snow, and a gutter loaded with an inch of ice pulls hangers out of the fascia and sags. The northern part of the state adds ice dams on the colder houses. Heavy-duty hangers and heat cable on the north side are a normal part of a quote from Kansas City and St. Louis northward.
